Chapter 20: Print Advertisements

Figures Online Action

Figure 20.1

Create an Advertisement
Imagine that you are an ad executive with a company that designs and manufactures accessories for pickup trucks. Find a full-page magazine advertisement for a new truck and make a photocopy of it.

Activity
Cover up the headline and all copy, then write a new headline and new copy, advertising your company’s custom accessories, bedliners, etc.

Focus on making the headline as catchy and creative as possible – aim for no more than seven or eight words. You might find it enjoyable to work with a partner or two on this project. (If you are ambitious, you can scan the ad into your computer, using graphics and design software to insert your own text.)
