Parenting Scenarios :

Sibling Rivalry

You place a high value on sharing and treating others with respect and try to instill this in your two young children. While you understand that conflict between siblings is normal and that some jealousy is inevitable in a first child when a second comes along, some of your older child's actions toward his younger sister are not acceptable to you.

Try This

Your little girl is fourteen months old and likes to play with her three-year-old brother. The older child gets extremely upset when the younger one uses his toys, even toys that he hasn’t played with in over a year. Worse than that, if your little girl goes into your son’s room, he hits her or steps on her hands. What could you do to help your son accept his sister's presence and treat her more gently? Make suggestions in the space below.
