Chapter 28: Marketing Research

A Matter of Ethics Online Action

Political Telemarketing
Many political organizations rely on telephone marketing research to fuel their campaigns. In some cases, these groups will call people at random, asking them if they are willing to take a brief survey. Depending on how the person responds to the questions that are being asked, the caller might have a scripted response, urging the listener to take a certain action, like voting a certain way or calling their representative.

Activity
Is this an ethical practice? Why or why not? Write a short essay that explains your opinions.
