Section 2: Succeeding in the Interview

After You Read Section Review Answers

Review Key Concepts

  1. Employees' attitude is the major influence on how hard and how well they work. You can show a positive attitude through body language and by demonstrating enthusiasm.
  2. Ask for a formal offer letter for your records, send an acceptance letter; and keep a copy for yourself. Be polite and give a reason for your answer when rejecting an offer.
  3. Evaluate your performance and make notes to help you for next time; send a thank-you note to the interviewer(s); handle acceptance or rejection gracefully.
Practice Academic Skills
  1. Students should cite qualities that would characterize a hard-working and responsible employee, such as honesty and initiative. A job candidate can demonstrate personal qualities during a job interview through responses to questions, through the questions he or she asks, and the way he or she behaves toward others.
  2. Questions should be polite and should reflect a genuine desire to learn how to be a better job candidate at the net interview.
