Personal Academic and Career Portfolio Help

Beginning Your Portfolio
Your Personal Career Portfolios will always be a work in progress. As your circumstances change and you get to know yourself better, your interests, skills, desired lifestyle, and career goals may also change. From time to time, revise your Inventory of Skills and Interests.

Think about the following as you compile your list of interests:
  • What subjects do enjoy reading or hearing about?
  • What places do I like to go?
  • What classes or types of activities do I enjoy in school?
Group your skills into categories such as basic skills (reading, writing, math, listening, and speaking), thinking skills (such as creative thinking, problem solving, and decision making), and technical skills (such as using specific computer hardware and software), as well as self-management skills such as taking responsibility for your actions, managing your time and money, and leading others.
