Unit 3: Animal Diversity

Unit Project 3

Project Type: Model

Your students have probably seen a variety of animals in places such as zoos and nature preserves. How much do they really know about these species? In this project they’ll have the opportunity to learn more about animals and share their knowledge with the class.

Assign each student a specific animal to research. They should learn the animal’s scientific name, its physical characteristics, reproduction and life cycles, and its natural habitat and location. Include its predator-prey web. Have students use their information to create lunch bags that are imaginative and will educate their classmates about your specific animal. Students may wish to place a snack related to their animals inside the bags to share in class.

1 class to conduct research, 1 class to create bags and share information
