  1. Alcohol kills 6.5 times more young people than all other illegal drugs combined.
  2. 2,442 youth ages 15-20 died in alcohol related crashes in 2002. That is 50 per week.
  3. The alcohol industry spends $1.6 billion each year on advertising campaigns because it wants to encourage people to remember, buy, and drink their brand of alcohol.
  4. Alcohol manufacturers paint a very glamorous picture of alcohol consumption. They leave out unpleasant things that can result from drinking such as:
    1. Auto accidents
    2. Hangovers
    3. STDs
    4. Sexual assaults
    5. Unplanned pregnancies.
  5. The things that The Distilled Spirits Council of the United States feels alcohol companies should not do to sell their products are:
    1. Put their logos and trademarks on clothing, toys, games, or equipment used by people who are not old enough to drink alcohol.
    2. Employ celebrities who appeal to people who are not old enough to drink.
    3. Run ads for alcohol that use images of kids, or things kids like, such as cartoon figures.
    4. Run ads that show people drinking too much or in irresponsible ways.
    5. Run ads that claim that drinking can make you a famous, rich, popular, or a success at sports.
    6. Run ads that link drinking with sexual activities.

  1. RADD stands for recording artists, actors, and athletes against drunk driving.
  2. RADD’s motto is, "You should learn as much as you can about safety, and share it with someone you care about."
  3. RADD Teens advocate no use and positive lifestyle changes.
  4. The rain in the video could represent emotions such as sadness, horror, shock, sorrow, loss, emptiness, depression, and grief.
  5. The makers of the video were trying to show that many people’s lives were affected by the accident, not just the people in the cars.
