What It Takes to Stay Healthy

What it takes to stay healthy is important as you enter the world of work. Starting a new job is exciting and stressful, which can affect your health, and your health can affect your job performance. In your new job, you'll get to know your new company, learn more about what is expected of you, meet your coworkers—and see how you fit in.

The Task

As a new employee, you will have much to learn in addition to what your job duties are and how to do them. You need to know what to expect on your first day of work, how attitudes affect your work, and how to manage stress that comes from making ethical decisions, being given criticism, and experiencing performance reviews. Your task is to provide information that gives tips to a friend who is starting a first job. The task should include the following:

  • the people you will meet on the first day;
  • suggestions for making ethical workplace decisions;
  • attitudes needed for job success;
  • ways for people with unhealthy self-esteem to improve it;
  • expectations of your performance review;
  • ways to handle criticism;
  • job stress management.
