Entering the World of Work

Chapter 12: Being a Valuable Employee

Portfolio Tips

Make a performance evaluation of your work when you get a new job. Copy the format in Figure 12.2. Describe what you do well in your job and what you need to improve. Write down ways that you can improve. From time to time revisit your performance evaluation and your list of ways to improve. Give yourself another performance evaluation. Ask yourself: Have I improved in these areas? If so, congratulate yourself. If you still need to improve, make a new start and find new ways to help yourself grow in the areas you want to improve.
