Answers to Section Review

After You Read

  1. Body language means the messages that your movements send. Examples of positive body language during an interview may include smiling, looking the interviewer in the eye, leaning slightly forward to show interest, keeping your arms at your side (not crossed), and giving a firm handshake.
  2. Interviewers are not allowed to ask about your sex, national origin, color, race, or religion. They cannot ask if you are married or pregnant. They cannot ask about your health or disabilities. To handle an illegal question, you should stay calm and try to understand the reason why the interviewer asked the question. If possible you should address the underlying reason, but should not answer the illegal question.
  3. Answers will vary, but most students may not want to work at the company because it does not treat its workers fairly and they themselves would not want this treatment.
