If students want to take first aid courses, they should talk to their school nurse, health teacher, or the Red Cross. This activity is for language purposes only. Advise students that if they are unsure of what to do in an emergency situation, they should call 911 and not attempt to intervene.

Expansion

  • Have students work in pairs or small groups. Make sure students who chose different emergencies are grouped together. Have them explain the emergency response they learned to their group in French. Then have each group create a presentation about responding to emergencies for the class. The presentations should include the response each student learned as well as catchy titles and introductions.
