Introduction In this chapter you learned about America's involvement in World War II. Most Americans were supportive of the fight against fascism in Europe. There were new opportunities in this war for both women and minorities. The Tuskegee Airmen, a fighter group of African American airmen, made important contributions to the war effort by shooting down over 200 enemy planes.
