Theatre: Art in Action ©2009Theatre is a creative idea expressed in performanceart in action . Theatre is also a highly collaborative art that requires effort by an ensemble, a group whose individuals function together to create a whole. In theatre, this ensemble includes actors, directors, producers, designers, stage crews, publicity people, and others. The process by which theatre people create a performance is always challenging. It involves hard work, but it is also a lot of fun. The path to a live performance is an exciting journey for everyone involved. The book is divided into three major strands that deal with Acting, Directing & Producing, and Technical Theatre. These three strands are organized into four sections: Exploration, in which you learn about basic tools and techniques; Preparation, in which you begin to get ready for a production; Performance, in which you move through rehearsal process to opening night; and Specialization, in which you can discover more about various types of specialized theatre activities.
