Chapter Summaries

Food can be prepared from scratch or with partly or fully prepared foods. Recipes are instructions for preparing food. They list ingredients and amounts, directions, and how much they serve. To successfully follow a recipe: measure accurately, follow directions and learn cooking terms and techniques. You can change a recipe's yield to make more or fewer servings. Herbs, spices, and condiments can add flavor to your dishes. You can also modify many recipes to improve nutritional value.
