Byron’s Poetry

Poets and writers describe not only visual aspects of their subjects but audible aspects as well. For example, in “Apostrophe to the Ocean,” Byron uses the phrase “music in its roar” to describe the ocean. Use the Internet to find recordings of sounds of the ocean, a storm, or an event such as a parade or a battle. Note how the sounds make you feel as you listen. Then choose a sound and write a reflective response in which you convey the emotional impact it makes on you.
