The mechanism that lets you hear is delicate and needs to be protected from damaging sounds. On the Web site below, you will learn about what kinds of sounds can damage your hearing, the symptoms of hearing loss, and what you can do to prevent injury to your ears.

Instructions

  • Start at the H.E.A.R. Web site.
  • Read through the “Hearing Damage: What is it?” and “Say What” pages and take notes as you go. Then take a look at the “Sound Check” page as well.
  • When you are done, answer the questions below.
  • Finally, using the information on the “Sound Check” page, create a hearing check card that explains the “Sound Check” test to teens so they can test their own hearing.
