Teen Health Course 2Chapter 16:
The Environment and Your HealthParent Letters - EnglishParent Letter and Activities
For use with Chapter 16 Dear Parent or Guardian,
We are now learning about ways the environment can affect health. Specifically,
we are studying the effects of pollution and ways to protect the environment.
Some questions your teen will answer as we discuss these topics include: What
are the causes and effects of different types of pollution? What can I do
to keep air and water clean? How can I help reduce solid wastes? What are
some ways I can conserve water and energy?
These questions touch on serious environmental issues. By answering the questions,
your teen will learn valuable conservation skills that can reduce pollution
effectively and promote environmental awareness.
To support and extend our classroom work, please set aside some time during
the next few weeks to complete one or more of the following activities with
your teen: - Ask your teen to share with you and other family members the information
he or she has learned about pollution.
- Discuss the presence or absence of pollution
problems in your community and how they might be solved.
- Set up a recycling
center in your home. If you already have one, check to see if there are ways
it might be improved.
Of course, feel free to engage in other activities you
think will help your teen develop a greater appreciation for the dangers of
pollution and the need to protect the environment. Your activities will be
a welcome addition to our efforts here. Thank you for supporting our classroom
work. As always, do not hesitate to contact me for further information.
Sincerely,
Health Teacher |
