Jack had always been such a/an person that it didn't surprise anybody when he became an undertaker. It did come as a surprise, though, when Jack fell in love when he was old, sick, and teetering on the brink of death. And even more surprising was when Jill agreed to marry Jack, despite his state. His skeptical mother had only things to say about Jill, but at ninety-seven Jack just didn't listen to her anymore. He decided to have the wedding in his both because it would his mother even more and because, as he liked to joke, if he died during the ceremony, he would already be there for the next undertaker. But undertakers don't make much money, so Jack had to take out a/an on his mortuary to pay for the wedding. He wasn't worried about how long it would take to the loan, as he was pretty sure he wouldn't live long enough to pay it back. When Jill up and left Jack at the altar, he died on the spot. The examination of Jack's body indicated that he had died of over his folly. Afraid that he would be remembered only for such a sad story, his family quickly made up a nursery rhyme about Jack and Jill to paint Jack in a better light and to him forever.
