Math Practice Step-by-Step

Follow these steps to solve the Section 13.1 Math Practice problem.

Deductions
Figure It Out   You are promoted and move into a different tax rate. Your new salary pays $1,000 a week, gross. What is your new income tax rate if each week $280.00 is deducted? What will your net pay be each month?

Step 1  Divide the amount that is deducted by your gross weekly salary.

Step 2  Convert the decimal from the answer to Step 1 to a percentage. This is your new income tax rate.

Step 3  Subtract your deduction from your new salary. This is your new weekly pay.

Step 4  Multiply your weekly pay by the number of weeks in one month (4). This number is your net pay.
