After You Read

  1. Answers should include six of the following: take a bath; brush your teeth; use antiperspirant; make sure you do not smell like cigarettes; wear very little perfume, cologne, or aftershave; make sure your hair and nails are clean and neat; wear only simple jewelry; use only a little makeup; shave before the interview.
  2. Answers should include five of the following: do not lean on the desk or read papers on it; keep your hands in your lap; do not chew gum or smoke; do not place anything on the interviewer's desk; wait to ask questions until the interviewer asks you if you have any; wait until the interview is almost over to ask about pay and benefits; thank the interviewer after the interview.
  3. Answer should name clothing that is appropriate for each job situation. For a restaurant server interview a button-down shirt with slacks or a skirt may be appropriate. For businessperson job interview a suit and dress shoes is appropriate. For a mechanic interview jeans and a button down-shirt may be appropriate.
