Answers to Section Review

After You Read

  1. You should mention two of the following: 1. You can get a job application form in person. For example, you can visit a business, ask if they have job openings, and then ask for an application, or ask for an application at a business that has a "help wanted" sign. 2. You can get a job application form by calling an employer and asking for a form. For example, you can call if you get a job lead from a contact or if a job listing gives a phone number. 3. You can get job application forms on the Internet. For example, you can fill out a job application form online if a job posting instructs you to do so.
  2. Answers should indicate that a reference is a person who will tell an employer that you will do a good job. Good references are adult friends, teachers, counselors, and past employers. Ask for a reference's permission before using his or her name and contact information. Type a list with your references' contact information. Employers will call references and ask them about you.
  3. Some students may think that how an application looks is more important than what it says because it shows how much attention you pay to detail. Other students may think that what the application says is more important because it shows what your real qualifications are. Still other students may think that the way the application looks and what it says are equally important, because together they give a complete picture of how much attention you pay to detail and what your qualifications are.
