Web Quest Lesson Plan

Introduction

Students have explored the topic of who influences them and how they do so. In this lesson, students will learn about different modes of influence, along with how influences are not necessarily always other people. After reading passages from two Web sites, students will draw two concept webs illustrating a person and event that has influenced them.

Lesson Description

Students will read selected passages from The Teen Scene Essay Contest
<http://www.saginawlibrary.org/teen/essay.html> as well as The California Department of Education biography of César Chávez <http://chavez.cde.ca.gov/ModelCurriculum/Teachers/Lessons/Resources/Biographies/Biographical_Sketch_4thGrd.aspx>. Students will then draw three concept webs, outlining who or what influences them and why.

Instructional Objectives

  1. Students will use the Internet to learn about how people are influenced.
  2. Students will conduct research on how objects and ideas, not just individuals, can influence people.
  3. Students will create concept webs that reflect their own understanding of who or what influences them.
