Chapter 20: Music For Stage And Screen

Oral History and the Earlier Rock Years

Interview someone who listened to rock music sometime between 1960 and 1975. Find someone other than yourself if you remember these years, so that you learn about someone else's experience. Learn about the cultural experience as well as the music. Record the questions and answers in this interview and save it; it may well be valuable to future historians.

Below is a list of suggested questions, but remember that once an interview begins, the answers may take you through their own paths of questions.

  1. Who was your favorite artist?
  2. If you went to a rock concert, what was the experience like?
  3. Did rock music influence you in your lifestyle, politics, or friendships?
