Web Activity Lesson Plans

"Life During the Great Depression"

Introduction
In this chapter students read about the stock market crash and its effects on America. People lost their jobs, their money, and their homes. In this time of crisis many families drew closer together, while others broke apart. Many young people left their families to find work. President Roosevelt created programs to meet the needs of those who had lost so much. In this activity students will take a closer look at what life was like during the Great Depression.

Lesson Description
In this activity students will visit a Web site on the Great Depression maintained by the Michigan Historical Museum System.
