Introduction

There are many ways to communicate with other people. Often what we do says more that what we say. This is especially true when we are around people who know us well. In this exercise you will learn a powerful way to tell others you care and build positive relationships without saying a word.

Directions

  • Start at the “Developing Life Skills” Web site.
  • Read about why ‘nice’ is such a powerful word, and how being nice can create positive relationships with people around you.
  • When you finish reading, answer the questions below.
  • Make a list of nice things you can do to show that person you care. Practice being nice to that person, remembering to be patient, persistent, and consistent. Notice how being nice to this person makes you feel.
