Introduction

Preparing for emergencies is a smart thing to do.  Since there are many kinds of emergencies, you will need to be prepared in a variety of ways.  At the Web site below, you will learn about how to make an emergency plan, prepare an emergency kit, and get the training you may need to help yourself and others in an emergency.

Directions

  • Start at the “American Red Cross” Web site.
  • Read the “Make a Plan,” “Build a Kit,” and “Get Trained” sections. Take notes as you read.
  • When you finish reading, answer the questions below.
  • Finally, using the information you learned on the Web site, make an “Emergency Checklist” that can be copied and handed out to your friends and classmates. Make sure to include web sites, addresses, and phone numbers where people can get additional information at the bottom of the card.
