Teachers Notes:

Problem 1:
a.
b.

Problem 2:
The gene carries the DNA which holds the instructions for making the spider silk protein. During protein synthesis, these instructions are passed on to RNA which translates the base sequence into an amino acid sequence forming the spider silk protein.

Problem 3:

Kevlar monomer                                                  spider silk monomer

Kevlar and Spider silk are both polymers and both seem to have a petide bond. However, Kevlar has a phenyl group between two amides and a phenyl group between to carbonyl groups unlike a sequence of amino acids found in spider silk.
