About the Authors



Barrie Sosinsky is a technology analyst who follows the computer industry in areas such as servers, storage, networking, and enterprise computing. Among his clients have been EMC, Veritas, Microsoft, IBM, Adaptec, Maxxan, XIOtech, and others.

He is the author of over 25 books and 400 articles that have appeared in several industry trade magazines. His previous books have included: Teach Yourself Windows 2000 Server (Sams), The BackOffice Bible (IDG), The Web Recipe Book (PTR), Building Visual Foxpro 5 Applications (IDG), The Warp Bible (Prima), Using FileMaker Pro (Que), and MacWorld's Guide to Microsoft Works (IDG), among many others.

Sosinsky does numerous tips for the TechTargets.com web site. In the past he has been a news editor and contributing editor for Windows 2000 Magazine and the lab director for Backoffice Magazine. His current projects include launching a web site aimed at information technologists and a separate general science site. He is located in Medfield Massachuesetts and can be contacted at barries@sosinsky-group.com.

Valda Hilley is an MCP and an MCSE. Her computer expertise is in Microsoft Windows, desktop, server products, networking, internet/web technologies, web programming including Java, JavaScript, VB Script, and ASP.

Her previous books have included: Using Drafix Windows Cad/Book and Disk Windows® 2000 Professional For Dummies & Quick Reference, Windows NT Server 4.0 Secrets, Using Drafix Windows Cad/Book and Disk, and Windows 3.1 Configuration Secrets (Info World Secrets) among many others. She has also authored numerous technical articles.

She is a former design engineer and stress analyst in computer and aerospace industries such as IBM, Hewlett Packard, Hughes Space and Communications to name a few. She was also a former news editor for Window.NET Magazine (Formerly Windows NT Magazine), managing editor of The Windows Journal, editor and publisher of OVC, regional computer newspaper, and finally a literary agent as well.

Valda Hilley is currently the CIO and technical manager of web technologies for Silver Lining Studios in Orlando, FL. She also operates a computer consulting business, Valda Hilley Associates, which specializes in small business networking.
