Introduction
Students have read about sentence combining. In this lesson, they will combine two or more sentences into one simple or compound sentence.

Lesson Description
Students will combine each sentence pair below to form a compound sentence or a simple sentence with compound parts. Students must add punctuation and coordinating conjunctions as needed.

Instructional Objectives

1. Students will be able to combine sentence by deleting repeated words, using connecting words, rearranging words, and changing the form of words.
2. Students will be able to write clearly and concisely.

1. Enrico enjoys hiking and camping.
2. I sent a birthday card to Bob; however, he never got it.
3. Has your address changed, or is the card lost in the mail?
4. Either Dad and I will paint the house this summer or Dad will have aluminum siding put on the house.
5. Angela has just moved to this school district; therefore, she is not eligible for the varsity team yet.
6. Just as Richard likes salted peanuts on chocolate sundaes, he also likes to eat potato chips with chocolate milkshakes.
7. Marc, who is just learning to skate, can't turn or stop.
8. Shawna likes science a lot, but she can't stand math.
9. Thomas won't eat right, and he won't take his medicine.
10. Darlene is petite, but she's a great volleyball player.
