Within career areas, there are usually entry-level, paraprofessional, and professional jobs. When choosing a career, consider your interests, aptitudes, and abilities. You can gain work experience through part-time work, internships, volunteering, service learning, and work-based learning. When evaluating careers, there are eight factors to consider.

Sources of job openings include the Internet, newspapers, other people, and job fairs. Résumés and cover letters serve specific purposes in the job search process. When going to an interview, be prepared and dress properly. Always write a follow-up letter afterward. Certain skills, including communication, leadership, and relationship skills, are needed for success in almost any workplace. Learning and building new skills helps lead to workplace success.
