Children between the ages of four and six grow steadily, and their body shape changes. Permanent teeth begin to appear around the age of six, replacing the primary teeth. From ages four to six, children refine their gross and fine motor skills. The eating habits children establish will influence their adult eating habits and health. Weight gain can result from poor eating habits. Physical inactivity is a major cause of overweight in children. Four- to six-year-olds can wash and dress themselves and can help care for their own clothes. Children between the ages of four and six may still have toileting accidents.
