The Drummer Boy of Shiloh

The author gives his readers a vivid picture of the setting of his story. He describes the peach blossoms on the tree above the drummer boy, the sound of the murmuring soldiers, and a moth that Joby mistakes for a falling peach blossom. Think about the way that you imagined the scene. How dark is the sky? Is there a moon? How loud are the voices of the soldiers? What does the General’s voice sound like? Are there many trees near the drummer boy? Are they all peach trees? Write a paragraph describing the scene as you imagined it.
