Waters of Gold

In “Waters of Gold,” Auntie Lily uses her gold coins to buy back the house and land she sold in order to help her friends. When she is asked why she does not buy a palace, Auntie Lily says, “I want what I sweated for.” For this activity, write a paragraph explaining what Auntie Lily means by this. What did she sweat for? Why would she want what she sweated for more than a great new palace or a large piece of land?
