Your World and One

How well do you know a poet through his or her words? Research the life of either Georgia Douglas Johnson, the poet of “Your World,” or James Berry, the poet of “One.” Use your textbook, a reliable Internet source, or an encyclopedia, or ask your teacher or librarian to help you find additional sources. Write a few paragraphs about the life of the poet. Explain how the poem might relate to the life of your selected poet. How might his or her life have influenced his or her writing in general?
