A Mason-Dixon Memory

Clifton Davis’s narrative essay tells a story about Dondré Green, a young African American golfer, and his experiences with discrimination. Reread the parts of the essay that describe Dondré’s experience at a “whites only” country club. Imagine that you are a newspaper reporter interviewing Dondré shortly after the experience. Think about the questions you would ask Dondré. Remember to cover the five Ws: Who?, What?, Where?, When?, and Why? Write your questions in interview form. Use details from the text to help you write Dondré’s responses.
