Functional Documents: Middle School Technology Use Survey and Middle School Computer Use Policy

Surveys are used to collect information from people. When you respond to a survey, you answer questions and give opinions. The information collected is used to draw conclusions about what people think and want. People who generate surveys use them effectively when they draw careful conclusions about the information they gather and then make decisions that benefit most of the people surveyed.

Imagine that your school has been asked to host a farmer’s market in the school parking lot on Saturdays during the summer. The school wants to survey those who live closest to the school to get their thoughts and opinions before making a decision. Write five questions you would ask that would help your school make an informed decision about whether or not to allow a farmer’s market on your school grounds.
