Reading-Writing Connection Activities

1.

from Dust Tracks on the Road

Autobiographies, like Dust Tracks on the Road, are written in first-person point of view. The author refers to herself or himself as I or me. Write two paragraphs in which you practice using different points of view. In the first paragraph, describe what you did after school on the previous day. Write this paragraph in first-person point of view. Then, in the second paragraph, rewrite your account from the third-person point of view, referring to yourself as he or she. After you complete your paragraphs, write a few sentences in which you compare the two versions and explain how they differ.
