Objective
  • To talk about cars
  • To tell others what to do and what not to do
  • To find out more about places of interest in Santiago, Chile

Notes

  • You may wish to brainstorm with students keywords in Spanish that will help direct them to Spanish-language Web sites to complete this WebQuest.
  • Remind students to apply their knowledge of car vocabulary along with their understanding of cognates in order to determine the meanings of any unfamiliar words they may encounter as they work through this activity.
  • Remind students to use informal commands when writing directions in the Segunda parte section of the worksheet.

Expansion

  • Have students role-play the dialog with their father in the Después de navegar section of the worksheet. Encourage them to ad-lib affirmative commands after each negative one.
  • Have students list as a class all the places of interest they researched. Then have them look at a map of Santiago and give directions from place to place.
  • Have students make a drawing of the rental car they would choose. Have them label the parts of the car.
