Chapter 3: Researching Careers

Chapter Summaries in English

In Chapter 3, you began to explore career clusters. You read about career clusters (groups of related careers) and career interest areas (general kinds of activities people do in many careers), which help you begin the process of looking at careers with respect to your skills and interests.

You also read about different ways to research careers and different questions to ask when researching careers. You were introduced to the print and online resources available from the U.S. Department of Labor, as well as other resources and sources of information. You also learned about experiential ways to research careers, such as working as an intern, participating in a cooperative (co-op) program, shadowing someone on the job, volunteering, and service learning.
