So you want to be a corporate lawyer? What should you do as a high school student to prepare for this career? Lawyers spend much of their time reading, writing, and researching. They also need good math skills when working with contracts, wills, and corporate accounts. Be sure to take rigorous courses that allow you to hone your language arts and math skills. It is important to be computer literate because much of the research lawyers' conduct is done on the computer. Learn how to keyboard and take notes efficiently. In addition, debate and speech classes are helpful. Public speaking is an important aspect of an attorney’s job.
