Students have read about many aspects of musical theater. In this lesson, they will further explore both professional and amateur musical theater and get to know some people associated with the art form.

Lesson Description
Students will examine the Web site www.Musicals101.com and answer four questions related to the content and the author.

Instructional Objectives

  1. Students will be able to navigate a Web site and discern important information from its content.
  2. Students will be able to learn more about musical theater and about certain people associated with the art form.

Student Web Activity Answers

  1. Keep it legal. By this the author means that anyone putting on a play should pay royalties for the rights to the play that has been chosen for production.
  2. The biggest mistake is not thinking about publicity until it is too late.
  3. The Gilbert & Sullivan link is included because the author, theater expert, and Web site creator admires and honors Gilbert and Sullivan for the contributions they made to musical theater.
