Web Quest Lesson Plan

Introduction
Students have explored the topic of the Epic Warrior. In this lesson, they will read about different heroes from different cultures. After reading these selections, students will write about the common characteristics of heroes across cultures and describe what a hero is to them.

Lesson Description
Students will read selected passages about Cheyenne warriors < http://www.indians.org/welker/cheyenne.htm> and heroes for today < http://www.time.com/time/time100/heroes/index.html>, and then they will write about any common characteristics of heroes and describe what a hero is to them.

Instructional Objectives

  1. Students will use the Internet as a resource to get information.
  2. Students will read selections about different heroes.
  3. Students will write about any common themes or characteristics of heroes and describe what a hero is to them.

I found that in many cultures, a hero is someone who stands up for what he or she believes, even if that is difficult or dangerous to do. I believe that a hero is someone who is courageous and inspires other people. Heroes stand up for what they believe in and are willing to make sacrifices for their beliefs and for the benefit of others.
