Web Quest Lesson Plan

Introduction
Students have explored the Big Idea of Issues of Identity. In this lesson, they will read articles about cultural identity and personal identity. After reading through these selections, students will write about their own sense of identity and what kind of person they think they will be in the future.

Lesson Description
Students will read about two people’s comments about cultural identity http://www.pbs.org/wayfinders/sharing_cj.html and poet Naomi Shihab Nye’s personal identification with her grandmother http://www.pbs.org/now/transcript/transcript_nye.html. Then students will write about their own sense of identity and what kind of person they think they will be in the future.

Instructional Objectives

1. Students will use the Internet as a resource to get information.
2. Students will read information about cultural and personal identity.
3. Students will write about their own self-image and sense of identity and what kind of person they think they will be in the future.

I am an honest, hard-working, and fun person. Five years from now I will probably be in college, and I think that I will still be the same, but I might be more outgoing. Ten years from now, I will either be in graduate school or working, and I think that I will still be the same, but may be less social because I will have more pressure on me to do well in school or at work.
